The late Rosemary Talbot, former President

David Bastable, former Chairman of the Quantock Centre, writes:

It was with much sadness that I heard in April that Rosemary Talbot had died.

She joined the Quantock Centre 30 years ago and was a very loyal and committed member. Several years ago, a request was made in the Newsletter for ideas on how to make the Centre more attractive to new and existing members.

Rosemary replied, proposing a pub lunch or coffee morning for new members to meet others and Committee members. What a good idea! Will you (she was asked) arrange such an event? Her answer was “Yes”, and the rest is history.

Rosemary organised many interesting and successful coach visits and lectures. She held the office of Vice-Chairman from 1991 to 2000 and that of President from 2001 to 2004.

Her working life was spent in the NHS in various hospitals, including Great Ormond Street and Westminster Hospital, London. When she retired, she had been responsible for several thousand nurses. Her caring background was put to good use as she showed friendship and compassion to members at all times She visited many sick members when they were in hospital and at other times of need.

When I was the Centre Chairman, Rosemary was of enormous help to me. We have all lost a dear friend.
